Founded by master craftsman Alva
Reed, Master's Touch specializes in the production of quality hand made birch
mugs. As Dave Dewar has assumed the
crafting of these mugs, he has done so using the legacy of Alva’s more than 40
years in carpentry and woodworking, his traditional techniques and innovative
ideas to create these unique, fully functional, wooden mugs.
Alva Reed patented his process for
building these birch mugs. Hand crafted with or without bark and with or
without lids, each mug is a fully functional beverage container. Knots
and bark add to the character of each wooden mug. Laser etched with custom
pictures, logo, hand painted to show one of several Alaskan scenes, or plain
with the natural features of Alaskan Birch, each mug is a unique piece of
art. These wooden mugs are 100% Alaskan made from the abundant Alaskan Birch
trees. Virtually no part of the tree is wasted in the manufacturing of these
beautiful mugs and other hand-made wooden gifts.
A
Short Mug History
Alva Reed founded
Master's Touch in North Pole, Alaska when a friend showed him a wooden mug.
Knowing Alva's propensity for woodwork, his friend suggested that Alva design a
wooden mug of his own. With the abundance of Alaskan Birch trees locally
available, Alva decided to create birch mugs. After experimenting with several
methods of drilling, sanding, and drying, Alva finally developed the process
for building these wooden mugs. This innovative process led to two United States
patents. |
